My Volunteer Role – President

My Day Job: Property Management

My Hobbies: rowing on Redwood City's waterways, taking care of Redwood City's Urban forest, cooking for and eating with friends.

Where I Grew Up: on the Peninsula, from San Francisco to Los Altos.

What did you want to be as a child? a fish skinner! … long story!!

First Job: Art Gallery in Palo Alto

Secret Talent: Painter

What would Surprise people to know about you? I share a birthday with my mom, Halloween! Dad always said he had two Witches in the house!

Favorite Animal: Most big dogs.

Why did you decide to become a RCLF BOARD Member? While working on the new jail project, I came to understand how important early reading skills are.

What do YOU like about RCLF? A great diverse board that is always willing to try something new.

My Hobbies: Triathlon, serving education and diversity-related causes

Getaway Place: Internationally, it's the South of France or Sydney. Domestically - there's nothing like New York!

If you were to wear a HOODIE, what would be on it? My favorite hoodie has a 1/2 Ironman logo on it - MightyMan 2005 - memories from that event are very dear to me.

What did you want to be as a child? I told people I was going to be a nervous wreck - can't tell if I fulfilled that or not ;)

First Job: Worked for my mom in her restaurant

What would Surprise people to know about you? That I am over 50

Favorite Animal: Our family Havanese dog, named Zach

Why did you decide to become a RCLF BOARD Member? To give back to institution that has provided me refuge and knowledge throughout my childhood and beyond.

What do YOU like about RCLF? RCLF is committed to providing those enduring qualities that a library came to symbolize as I was growing up, but with a 21st century approach that continually adapts with the needs of the community.

Why did you decide to become a RCLF BOARD Member? Georgi LaBerge, previous Executive Director, was my Pastor's wife and introduced and got me involved in the Foundation.

What do YOU like about RCLF? It is a diverse group of people – age, gender, and nationality – with a range of graces, gifts, talents and skill sets all working for the same mission and vision – and we get to laugh!  It's fun to be part of this group.

Why did you decide to become a RCLF BOARD Member? Spending time in the Library was a big part of growing up for me.  I want to help more people experience the pleasures of reading as I did.

What do YOU like about RCLF? I enjoy spending time with other members of the Board, working together to serve the community.

Why did you decide to become a RCLF BOARD Member? As a fairly new resident, I wanted to get more involved in the Redwood City community.  I also wanted to put my talents towards a volunteer effort.

What do YOU like about RCLF? I love the RCLF is involved in so many community events – not just the library.  As an engineer, I especially appreciate the STEAM Fest.

Why did you decide to become a RCLF BOARD Member? The Redwood City Library has been part of my life since childhood.  I was a patron, volunteer, and worker at the Library, and it seemed fitting when I returned to my hometown to serve on the Board of an organization that provided so much to me.

What do YOU like about RCLF? The variety of programs and initiatives we support through the Foundation.

What did you want to be as a child? Almost everything!  I wanted to be the President of the United States, an architect, a geneticist, and a princess.

First Job: If I'm not counting all the waitressing I did through school (and really, I was such a terrible waitress that it shouldn't be counted), my first job out of school was a as book publicist at UC Press in Berkeley.
