Foundation Programs
Since its founding in 1998, the Redwood City Library Foundation has raised over $1.5 million to support these and other programs.

The Opening Day Collection of the new Redwood Shores Library
Over 53,000 new books, media, and magazines greeted crowds on opening day September 6, 2008. $850,000, the total amount needed, came from the fundraising efforts of the Foundation through the Campaign for the Opening Day Collection. Contributions from generous local businesses, associations, foundations, and individuals made the realization of this goal possible.
Traveling Storytime
Reaches the youngest members of our community through the joy of reading and being read to. More than 60 volunteers read at 70 childcare facilities on a weekly basis; from its inception in 2001 to January 2008 volunteers have made a total of over 100,000 child visits. The Foundation provided funding for staff and operating costs for the initial years of this effective program.
Teen Homework Center
Provided computers and technical/tutoring assistance to help youths succeed in their educational goals. Over 3,000 students took advantage of the Center's resources during the 2005-2006 academic year.
Hearing Loop
Hearing impaired adults can enjoy programs and attend meetings in the library community room equipped with a Foundation-funded hearing loop. Endorsed by the local Shhh Association and installed in the summer of 2004, many adults have benefited from this device.
English Language Materials
Through the acquisition of English language written material and tapes, members of the Latino community can improve their language skills. The Foundation provided funds to purchase these materials.
Dad & Me
Family ties are strengthened through the Saturday reading program Dad & Me @ the Library.
