Create a Legacy

Make a lasting impact on literacy, life-long learning, and community connections for everyone by including the Redwood City Library Foundation (RCLF) in your will, living trust, or beneficiary designations.

CREATE A LEGACY

📚 A gift in your will, living trust, or beneficiary designations requires no immediate donation.

📚 We welcome gifts in any amount.

📚 You can change your mind at any time.

We would be happy to discuss your questions about legacy gifts. Please contact Lisa Hicks-Dumanske, RCLF Executive Director, at rclf-ed@redwoodcity.org or 650-780-7045.

We encourage you to consult a tax, financial, or legal advisor prior to establishing a legacy gift. The Redwood City Library Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization qualified to receive tax-deductible contributions, Tax ID #94-3293215.

If you have already included the Foundation in your plan, please let us know so that we can thank you and update our records.

Ways To Give

A Gift in Your Will or Living Trust

  • You can leave a small percentage of your estate – even 1% can make a real difference!

  • You can leave a defined sum to the Redwood City Library Foundation.

  • You can leave a percentage of funds left over after other gifts and debts are paid and your loved ones are provided for.

  • You can make a secondary or contingent gift that comes to the Redwood City Library Foundation only if your other beneficiaries do not survive you or other specific gifts cannot be fulfilled.

Potential Wording

We suggest this simple language for your will, codicil to your will, or your living trust:

“I hereby give and bequeath <description of gift> to the Redwood City Library Foundation, a not-for-profit, tax-exempt organization incorporated under the laws of the State of California, with Tax ID #94-3293215, for the Foundation’s general support.”

A Gift by Beneficiary Designation

You can name the Redwood City Library Foundation as a partial or total beneficiary of your retirement accounts, life insurance plan, donor-advised fund (DAF), and other financial accounts, including your bank and brokerage accounts.

You can designate all or a percentage of the funds in your account, and you can name the Redwood City Library Foundation as a primary beneficiary or a second-in-line beneficiary.

Simple Steps to Make Your Gift

  1. Contact your retirement plan administrator, insurance company, bank, or financial institution for a change-of-beneficiary form. You may be able to request or download your form from your online account portal.

  2. Be sure to include RCLF’s Tax ID number, 94-3293215.

  3. Please let us know. Some financial institutions will not notify us that we are a beneficiary; sharing your wishes now helps ensure your gift will be distributed as you wish.
