Make a tax-free gift from your IRA.

A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) is a direct transfer of funds from your IRA custodian to a qualified charity, like the Redwood City Library Foundation!

An individual donor can contribute up to $105,000 per year in QCDs, as long as that individual is 70½ years old or older. For married couples, each spouse can make QCDs up to the $105,000 limit for a potential total of $210,000.

In addition to the benefits of giving to charity, there is no income tax due on a QCD.

QCDs can be counted toward satisfying your required minimum distributions (RMDs) for the year, as long as certain rules are met. For a QCD to count towards your current year's RMD, the funds must come out of your IRA by your RMD deadline, generally December 31.

Consult your professional advisor for details.

Please request that your administrator include your name on the transfer so we can ensure you get the correct acknowledgment. The Redwood City Library Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) organization qualified to receive tax deductible contributions. Tax ID #94-3293215.
