Makerspace in the Library

The Redwood City Library Foundation has committed to raising $300k in support of the library makerspace project.  Help us reach our goal today!

Makerspace in the Library

The Redwood City Library Foundation is very excited to be supporting a makerspace collaborative workspace coming to the Redwood City Public Library! After many discussions, site visits, research, and surveys, the makerspace plan is progressing nicely.

The RWC library has dedicated approximately 1000 square feet for the makerspace project, to include an area with tools and equipment and a coworking space. The structured makerspace area will have a combination of high-tech tools. This area will support a wide variety of activities, including digital crafts, traditional crafts, and media activities. Usage will include drop-ins and structured programs led by library staff and volunteers. A coworking space will be available for home-office or startup workers to conduct meetings. It will include whiteboards and large screen monitors for collaboration and videoconferencing. It is expected that the makerspace area will get more weekend and evening use, while the coworking area will be busier during weekdays.
