RCLF’s 3rd Annual Upscale Pub Crawl on October 9 was a Hit!

Writer: rclf-inforclf-info

More than 450 community members visited downtown Redwood City locations, enjoying drinks and small bites while learning about book bans from Library Foundation representatives at each stop. The event celebrated Banned Books Week, spotlighting the importance of the freedom to read and the dangers of censorship. Colorful posters at the pubs featured 42 frequently challenged books. In 2023, 4,240 unique book titles were targeted across the country, many of them representing LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC voices and experiences.

Thank you to everyone who attended, as well as the 17 pubs, 58 volunteers, and 33 sponsors! Your support makes a difference in protecting and funding vital Library initiatives. We raised more than $40,000! Check out photos, sponsors, and participating pubs on our website at rclfdn.org/events.
