On Saturday, April 25th, the Downtown Library opened for a special after-hours event to raise funds for the library! 145 library patrons gathered to solve a literary mystery by completing puzzles to collect clues to identify the ghost of a famous person who once had a shattering experience in Redwood City (true story).

In addition to the mystery, participants enjoyed live music by the VRV Jazz Trio, a catered menu, themed cocktails, and dessert provided by The Cake Robin. We are deeply grateful to our Event Sponsors and could not have created such a fun and exciting event without the help of our volunteers, especially Brad Friedman (Hercule Poirot) who helped us come up with the mystery, and the 11 literary spirits who made the story come alive.

See more about the event, including photos, winners, volunteers, puzzles and solutions, list of library spirits, and sponsor list: rclfdn.org. We raised $16,000 to support vital library initiatives, with an additional $1,000 raised to support Bridging the Digital Divide.

One participant said this was the best fundraiser she had ever attended!
